# How to use Describe a Sound in the Splice Desktop App

Splice's new **Describe a Sound** feature is now in the Desktop App, in addition to the [Splice Sounds Plugin](https://describe), allowing you find the perfect sample using natural-language descriptions.

You can type what you’re looking for—like *“dark ambient pad with shimmer”* or *“tight 90s house hi-hat”*—and the plugin will return samples that match your description.

To use it, simply toggle on **Describe a Sound** in the Splice Desktop App and describe your sound.
