With the Splice mobile app, you can browse, collect, and download samples from our catalog anywhere, any time using your iPhone, iPad or Android device. Sounds you download on the mobile app will sync across all your devices for a seamless workflow.
You can install the app on your iOS device via the App Store, or your Android device via the Google Play store. The current version of the Splice mobile app is supported on iOS/iPadOS 13.6+ and Android 7+.
Navigating the Splice app
The main navigation bar is on the bottom of the screen. You can check out featured packs in the Browse section, or narrow down your search by instrument, genre, or keyword in the Search section.
All of your likes, downloads, and recently added samples are in the Library section.
Settings and other preferences are available in the Profile section. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner of this section to toggle between light and dark mode.
The icon in the center opens up the Beatmaker instrument- more on that later!
Browsing and downloading sounds
To preview a sample, simply tap on it. Clicking on the three small dots to the right side of a sample will display a couple of different options:
Click "Add to Library" to spend a credit and purchase the sample. To download it locally onto your mobile device, click "save to device" afterwards to download it directly to your Files app (iOS/iPad) or local storage folder (Android). Simply adding a sample to your library will not download it onto your device.
Note: the "Add to Library" and "Save to Files" options are only available with an active Splice Sounds subscription.
To access your downloaded samples on iOS/iPad, make sure you're navigating to the Files app, and then going to "On my Device" > Splice > Samples. The Files app will oftentime open to your iCloud Drive folder by default, which won't contain your Splice folder, so you'll need to go back a page, and then go into the "On my Device" folder, which is where the Splice folder automatically gets created.
On Android devices, samples you save to your mobile device will download here: My Files > Internal Storage > Splice > Samples. The "Splice" folder will automatically get created once you start downloading samples.
All the sounds you download on the mobile app will sync to your Splice account, and can be downloaded via the Splice desktop app once you're back at your computer.
The new Beatmaker feature in the Splice mobile app lets you to assign Splice samples to 8 playable pads for real-time playback. Beatmaker is a great tool for hearing how different samples sound together, and creating sketches to flesh out later! To assign a sample to a Beatmaker pad, simply tap the Beatmaker icon to the left of the 3 small dots on a sample, and then select a pad.
