How to record your own audio in the Splice Mobile App
Updated this week

Starting with Splice Mobile 3.3.0, a new feature is available that lets you record your own Stack layers with your device’s microphone.

How do I record a loop as part of a Stack?

  1. To record a loop as part of a Stack, start a Stack from a style or a sample, then tap the “Record” button.

  2. After tapping record, you can begin recording right away, or tap on the gear icon in the top right corner to adjust the settings to:

    • Play stack while recording

    • Play metronome while recording

  3. You can record up to 60s of audio at a time, using any 8 bar region from that recording as a Stack layer.

  4. After you're done recording, please choose how many bars of your recording you want to play in your Stack.

  5. You can drag where you want your recording to start, nudge it in 10ms intervals, or select "Flip as a New Stack," which will keep your recording locked while you go through other compatible sounds.

What kind of material am I allowed to record?

You can record any original content, including instrumentals and vocals. By recording with Splice Mobile, you are agreeing that all recordings are your own original material, and do not violate or infringe upon the rights of anyone else. See our terms here.

What happens to my recordings if I cancel my Splice subscription?

If you cancel your Splice subscription, your recordings will be available for you to download until your plan ends. The recordings will be deleted 30 days after your final billing date.
