How to sync Splice samples to tempo in Studio One Pro 7

Updated over a week ago

If your Splice samples aren’t syncing to the tempo in Studio One Pro 7 when you drag them in, this is likely due to a setting or two in your DAW that needs adjusting.

✅ Step 1: Enable "Stretch audio files to Song tempo"

This is a global setting that tells Studio One to automatically stretch any imported audio to match the tempo of your project.

  1. Open your project in Studio One.

  2. Go to Song > Song Setup.

  3. Under the General tab, make sure Stretch audio files to Song tempo is checked.

✅ Step 2: Check the track’s tempo setting

Each audio track in Studio One has a Tempo mode. If this is set to Don’t Follow, your sample won’t sync to the project tempo—even if the global setting is enabled.

  1. Click the audio event or track after dragging in your sample.

  2. In the Inspector panel on the left, find the Tempo dropdown.

  3. Set it to Timestretch.

❗ What happens if these settings are off?

  • If "Stretch audio files to Song tempo" is off: samples will play at their original tempo, regardless of your project BPM.

  • If a track is set to Don’t Follow: that individual sample won’t adjust to the tempo, even if the global setting is on.
