How to resolve issues with D16 plugin constantly asking for authorization

If you're renting a D16 plugin and the Splice Desktop App correctly authorizes your license, but the activation window keeps appearing repeatedly and cannot be closed, follow these steps to resolve the issue.


For PC Users

  1. Close Your DAW Ensure your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) is completely closed before proceeding.

  2. Navigate to the D16 Group Folder Go to the following location on your system drive:

    C:\Users\[Your Windows Username]\AppData\Roaming\D16 Group

    Can't find the AppData folder?

    • Open File Explorer.

    • Click on the View tab.

    • Under Show/hide, check the Hidden Items box to make hidden files and folders visible.

  3. Locate the Plugin Folder

    • Find the subfolder corresponding to the plugin's name.

    • Open this subfolder.

  4. Remove the License File

    • Locate the file with the .d16key extension.

    • Delete this file.

  5. Empty the Trash Bin

    • Ensure the deleted file is permanently removed by emptying the trash bin.

  6. Reactivate the Plugin

    • Open your DAW and reactivate the plugin. It should now work correctly.


For Mac Users

  1. Close Your DAW Ensure your DAW is completely closed before proceeding.

  2. Navigate to the D16 Group Folder

    • Go to the following location:

      ~/Library/Application Support/D16 Group

    What does ~ mean?

    • ~ represents your user directory on macOS.

    • To access this folder:

      1. Open Finder.

      2. With Finder as the active application, click Go in the top menu.

      3. Hold the Shift key and select Library from the dropdown menu.

      4. Continue navigating to Application Support/D16 Group.

  3. Locate the Plugin Folder

    • Find the subfolder corresponding to the plugin's name.

    • Open this subfolder.

  4. Remove the License File

    • Locate the file with the .d16key extension.

    • Delete this file.

  5. Empty the Trash Bin

    • Ensure the deleted file is permanently removed by emptying the trash bin.

  6. Reactivate the Plugin

    • Open your DAW and reactivate the plugin. It should now work correctly.
