What are Spitfire Audio Originals?
The Originals range has long been one of the most popular line of products from Spitfire Audio. Priced at $29/£29/€29, they have been a wonderful entry point into higher quality sample libraries for musicians around the world. We are now bringing the full depth and value of these Originals libraries to Splice INSTRUMENT!
Do I have to purchase these packs if I already have a Splice plan?
All of these packs are automatically available to you if you're on a Creator, Creator+ or INSTRUMENT plan through Splice. However if you would like to own a perpetual license so that you can cancel your subscription and retain access, you're fully able to do so.
How do I know if I have a perpetual license for a pack?
Anytime you own a license for a preset or pack you'll see the Owned label on it.
What is happening to the old versions of these packs that were already in the plugin?
We previously had slimmed down versions of some of these Originals libraries within Splice INSTRUMENT. These versions were limited to 1 microphone position and a limited selection of presets. These have been replaced by the full library versions, and the old versions now have a Deprecated label to notify you of this.
The new versions have improvements and bug fixes to the content itself, and also provide you with more options through the additional mic mixer for more control over the sound.
I just purchased an Originals library, where do I find it in Splice INSTRUMENT?
Once you've purchased the library and linked your Splice account you can use the search section in Splice INSTRUMENT to find the library.

You'll see the Owned label indicating that you have a perpetual license and can freely install the pack when you're ready.
I already own some Originals — can I still use them?
Yes, if you own any Originals you will get access to the new, updated INSTRUMENT versions for free. You'll need to create a Splice account if you don't have one yet, and link it from the Product Hub.
You'll need to re-download the products via INSTRUMENT, as they use a new folder structure and include various improvements.
You will also still be able to access the dedicated plugin versions of the libraries, and install, repair or reset them via the Spitfire Audio App. We suggest keeping these on your system if you have existing, active projects that use them.
Please note that these legacy versions are discontinued and can no longer be purchased. They will no longer be supported or updated going forward.
Are Spitfire Audio libraries becoming subscription-only?
No, all Spitfire libraries remain available as one-time purchases directly from Spitfire Audio. The subscription option through Splice INSTRUMENT is an additional way to access this collection, not a replacement.
Will future Spitfire libraries only launch on INSTRUMENT?
No, this launch specifically expands the availability of the Originals range.
Will musicians still receive royalties from these libraries?
Yes, musicians featured on our libraries continue to receive royalties, whether you purchase a perpetual license or subscribe.
