How do I hide the chat panel?

How to close the Rheo chat panel in Create, and how to turn off other optional AI features like Smart Fill and Rheo audio listening.

You can close the Rheo chat panel at any time to give your timeline and clip editor more room. Rheo is optional, and you can make music in Create entirely on your own.

Hide or show the Rheo panel

  1. Find the Rheo button in the toolbar, just left of the Mixer button.

  2. Click the Rheo button to close the Rheo panel. The timeline and clip editor expand to fill the space.

To bring the Rheo panel back, click the Rheo button again. You can also press Cmd+K to open the Rheo panel. While your cursor is inside the panel, press Cmd+K again to close it.

Note: Create remembers whether the Rheo panel is open or closed, so the panel stays hidden the next time you open Create.

Turn off other optional AI features

Hiding the Rheo panel doesn't turn off Create's other AI-assisted features. You can control these features separately:

  • Smart Fill: Smart Fill suggests bar ranges to fill when you hover over empty lane space. Turn Smart Fill off with the toggle beside the arrangement overview, or press F. With Smart Fill off, you can still hold Shift to use Smart Fill just for the moment.

  • Rheo listening to audio: Rheo sometimes renders and listens to your audio to check sound-shaping work. To turn listening off for faster edits, go to Settings → General → Rheo and turn off Let Rheo listen to audio.

  • Voice input: Voice input only runs when you hold the talk key (Control+Option by default) or click the microphone in the Rheo panel. To avoid starting voice input by accident, change or remove the talk key in Settings → Shortcuts → Talk to Rheo.

Using Create without Rheo

Everything Rheo can do, you can also do yourself with Create's menus, panels, and keyboard shortcuts. Rheo never saves your project unless you ask Rheo to, so hiding Rheo doesn't affect how your work is saved.

If you'd like help learning Create's controls without Rheo making changes for you, try Point mode instead of hiding the panel. See What are Assist and Point?
