Rheo is the AI collaborator built into Create. You can ask Rheo to make changes to your project for you, or have Rheo teach you how to make those changes yourself. This article covers how to open Rheo, make requests, and review or undo what Rheo does.
Open the Rheo panel
Rheo lives in a panel docked to the right of the timeline. To open or close the Rheo panel:
Click the Rheo button in the toolbar, just left of the Mixer button.
Or press
Cmd+K. If the panel is already open,Cmd+Kputs your cursor in the message box. PressCmd+Kagain from inside the panel to close it.
Create remembers whether the Rheo panel was open or closed. To give the Rheo panel more room, click the button at the right of its header to switch between Full height and Medium height.
What you can ask Rheo to do
Rheo can work with almost every part of your project. You can ask Rheo to:
Edit tracks, clips, sections, and effects ("add a delay to the vocals", "make the bass quieter").
Find sounds in the Splice catalog ("find a bass that fits this section").
Create or transform musical material ("build an arrangement from this loop").
Control playback and recording ("record the verse", "stop playback").
Save the project or prepare an export ("export the chorus as an MP3").
Measure your audio ("how loud is the mix?", "is the kick clipping?").
Tip: Be specific about the track, section, clip, or bar you mean, and describe the musical result you want. Follow-up requests can refer to your current selection and the recent conversation, so "make it louder" works after you've been talking about a track.
Choose what your request applies to
The pill at the top of the message box shows what Rheo's next change will affect: the selected track, clip, section, effect, or drum pad. The pill reads N selected when several items are selected, or Nothing selected when nothing is.
To send a request without your current selection, hover over the pill and click its ×. Rheo then treats nothing as selected until you change your selection.
Choose between Assist and Point
The switch at the bottom left of Rheo's message box controls how Rheo responds:
Assist: Rheo makes changes to your project for you.
Point: Rheo teaches you how to make changes yourself with on-screen walkthroughs.
New users start in Point. To switch modes, click either side of the switch, press Shift+Tab while the Rheo panel is active, or ask Rheo to switch. For more detail, see What are Assist and Point?
Talk to Rheo with your voice
You can speak to Rheo instead of typing. Voice input requires you to be signed in, connected to the internet, and to have given Create microphone access.
To talk to Rheo:
Hold Control+Option, speak, then let go to send.
Or click the microphone button to the left of the send arrow. Click the microphone button once to keep listening until you click it again, or press and hold the button to talk only while it's held.
Rheo cleans up what you say before sending it, removing filler words and writing music terms the way you'd type them (for example, "eight oh eight" becomes "808").
To customize voice input, go to Settings → General → Rheo → Voice. From there you can change the talk key, choose the language you speak, choose which microphone to use, and turn off Auto-send if you'd rather review your words in the message box before sending.
Stop, queue, or undo Rheo's changes
Stop a response: Click Stop, or send "stop", "cancel that", or "never mind". Rheo stops right away.
Queue requests: If you send a message while Rheo is busy, the message joins a visible queue. You can remove queued messages before Rheo gets to them.
Undo changes: Changes Rheo makes are added to your undo history, so press
Cmd+Zto undo them. Changes Rheo finished before you stopped a response stay in the project until you undo them.
Note: Rheo only saves your project when you ask Rheo to.
Rate Rheo's responses
To tell us how Rheo did, click the thumbs button under a finished response and pick Good response or Bad response. A card opens where you can choose a reason or share details, then click Submit. Your rating can't be changed after you pick it.
Check your Rheo usage
Rheo uses units from your account. To see your balance, go to Settings → Usage, or ask Rheo "how many units do I have left?" When you run out of units, the Rheo chat and Create's AI features stop and offer you more.
If you'd rather work without Rheo, see How do I hide the chat panel?
