How to use the Splice Desktop App without an active internet connection

Updated over a week ago

In order to utilize the full Splice experience, we recommend having an active internet connection. However, you can still use the Splice Desktop App while offline with the samples you've already downloaded to your device.

How can I use offline mode?

If you open the Splice app without an active internet connection, or lose your connection while in the middle of a session, it will automatically default to offline mode.

However, if you have a slow internet connection and want the convenience of going offline, we also offer the option to switch to offline mode at any time in Preferences:

What can I do while I'm offline?

As long as you have downloaded the samples in your library to your local device, you can do the following:

  1. Preview samples

  2. Drag and drop samples into your DAW

  3. Copy samples to clipboard and paste into DAW

  4. Use filters to search your library

  5. Audition and modify downloaded samples with Bridge

What can't I do while I'm offline?

Offline mode is optimized for using the samples in your library you've already downloaded to your computer. Here are some things you can't do while offline:

  1. Download or browse for new sounds

  2. Re-download sounds that are in your library but not currently downloaded to your local device

  3. Install or update Rent-to-Own software, as well as Bridge, Astra, and Beatmaker

  4. Access or create Stacks with Create

  5. Generate a temporary Rent-to-Own license for software you are currently leasing

  6. Access or add samples to collections

  7. Preview presets or packs in your library

  8. Audition and modify samples you don't have downloaded with Bridge
