Our team is aware of a bug on Windows 10 & 11 where users cannot launch the app. Please click here to resolve it.
If you are having issues launching the Desktop App or receiving a "Hold up, something's not right..." error, please first do the following:
Uninstall and reinstall the Splice desktop app. Grab the latest installer here: https://splice.com/download
Turn off any anti-virus apps or VPNs that may be blocking Splice.
Connect to a different WiFi network or a mobile hotspot
If issues persist, please follow the instructions below depending on your operating system:
For Windows users:
1. Remove Third-Party Security Software
Remove any third-party security software, such as:
VPNs
Avast
Kaspersky
BitDefender
Also, disable Windows Defender temporarily. Ensure you have the necessary product keys and know how to reinstall these programs after troubleshooting.
2. Ensure Sufficient Disk Space
Verify that your device has enough free space for the installation or update process.
3. Unplug Extra Hardware
Disconnect all external devices that are not essential for basic functionality, such as:
External storage devices and drives
Docks
Other peripherals
4. Repair Hard Drive Errors
Click the Start button.
In the search box on the taskbar, type Command Prompt.
Select Command Prompt from the list of results.
In the Command Prompt window, type
chkdsk /f C:
and press Enter.Repairs will automatically start on your hard drive, and you’ll be prompted to restart your device.
5. Delete Existing Splice App Files
Remove all existing Splice app files from your computer. Delete the following files and folders:
splice.exe
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\SpliceSettings
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Splice
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\SquirrelTemp
6. Reinstall the Splice App
Download and reinstall the Splice app from splice.com/download.
7. Reboot Your Computer
Restart your computer. If issues persist, reboot in Safe Mode.
For Mac users:
1. Force Quit Splice
Open the Force Quit manager.
Force quit the Splice application.
2. Delete the com.splice.Splice Folder
Open Finder.
Press Shift + CMD + G to open the "Go to Folder" window.
Paste the following path and press Enter:
~/Library/Application Support/com.splice.Splice
Delete the entire
com.splice.Splice
folder.
3. Check Firewall Settings
Go to System Settings > Network > Firewall, click Options, and ensure Splice is listed under Allow incoming connections.
4. Restart and Relaunch
Restart your machine.
Relaunch the Splice app.
