How to restore your Serum preset backup in Splice
Updated this week

If you've noticed that your Splice presets are now organized by pack and you want to revert to your previous organization, follow these steps to restore your backup.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Locate Your Serum Presets Folder:

    • Open Serum in your DAW.

    • Click on Menu > Show Serum Presets Folder.

  2. Navigate to Your Backup Folder:

    • Open the Splice app.

    • Go to Preferences to find your Splice folder.

    • In the Splice folder, locate the Backup folder.

  3. Restore Your Presets:

    • Open the Backup folder and find the Serum backup.

    • In the Serum Presets Folder, delete the existing Splice presets.

      • Drag the existing presets into the Trash.

    • Copy the presets from the Backup folder into the Splice folder.

  4. Rescan and Prune Presets in Serum:

    • Open Serum.

    • Go to Menu > Rescan Database to refresh the preset list.

    • To remove duplicates, go to Menu > Prune Duplicates and Missing Presets.

  5. Final Steps:

    • Close and reopen Serum to ensure the presets are restored to their original state.

Note: When you download new presets, they will still be organized by pack. This process only restores your previous organization for the current presets.
