How to update the Splice Pro Tools Integration directly from Avid Link

Splice x Pro Tools users can manage updates for the Splice Pro Tools integration within the Avid Link platform.

Updated this week

Step 1: Locate Splice in Avid Link

First, confirm the status of your current installation.

  1. Open the Avid Link application.

  2. Navigate to the Products tab from the left-hand menu.

  3. Scroll through your list of installed software to find the Splice entry. You will see its current installed version number.

Step 2: Identify an Available Update

When an update is available, the status indicator next to the product name will change.

  • Standard Status: Typically, the entry shows "No Update," indicating you have the latest version recognized by Avid Link.

  • Update Available: When a new version is released via this platform, this status will change to a clickable Update button like so:

Step 3: Perform the Update

With the "Update" button visible, the process is straightforward.

  1. Close Pro Tools: Ensure Pro Tools and any other Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) are closed to prevent installation conflicts.

  2. Initiate the Update: In Avid Link, click the Update button next to Splice.

  3. Monitor Progress: Avid Link will handle the download and installation. The status will change to "Downloading..." and then "Installing..."

  4. Complete: Once finished, the entry will revert to showing the new version number and the "No Update" status. You can now relaunch Pro Tools with the updated Splice plugin.
