How to adjust the volume of the Splice integration in Ableton Live 12.3

Updated over 2 months ago

When previewing sounds from the Splice integration in Ableton Live 12.3, you can control the preview volume in two different places:

1. Splice’s Built-In Volume Control

Inside the Splice browser panel, you’ll see a vertical volume slider at the bottom left.

  • Drag this slider up or down to adjust how loud your Splice previews play inside Live.

  • This control only affects the preview sounds coming directly from Splice.

2. Ableton Live’s Cue/Solo Volume Knob

In the Master track of Ableton Live, look just below the Main Volume fader—you’ll see a small blue knob.

  • This is the Cue/Solo Volume knob, which controls the level of all pre-listen (cue) sounds, including Splice previews.

  • Labeling depends on the mode:

    • If the Master track is set to Solo in Place, the knob is labeled Solo Volume.

    • If the Master track is set to Cue, the knob is labeled Cue Volume.

  • You can toggle between these modes with the little Solo/Cue switch next to the knob.

Best Practice

  • If your previews are too quiet or too loud, start by adjusting the Splice volume slider.

  • If you still need more control, use Live’s Cue Volume knob for a global adjustment.

This way, you can fine-tune your Splice preview volume without affecting the overall mix volume in your project.
