Apps & Plugins missing from the Splice Desktop App

If you are in the Apps & Plugins section of the Splice Desktop App and do not see software you should have access to, such as a Rent-to-Own plugin or Splice first-party tools like INSTRUMENT or the Splice Sounds Plugin, follow the steps below.

Confirm you're signed into the correct Splice account

First, make sure the Splice Desktop App is signed into the same account that owns your software.

  1. Go to splice.com/profile/plans and confirm that you have an active plan for the software you are trying to access.

  2. Once confirmed, go to splice.com/profile/settings and note the email address and username associated with that account.

  3. Open the Splice Desktop App.

  4. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select Preferences.

  5. Under Profile, confirm that the email address and username match the account you checked on splice.com.

If the account information does not match, sign out of the Desktop App and sign back in with the account that owns your software.

If you have confirmed that you are signed into the correct account but your software is still missing from Apps & Plugins, continue with the troubleshooting steps below.

macOS

  1. Fully quit the Splice Desktop App by pressing Cmd + Q. Quit your DAW as well.

Simply closing the Splice window is not enough. The app must be fully quit so it can release the necessary files.

  2. Open Finder.

  3. Press Cmd + Shift + G.

  4. Paste the following path and press Enter: ~/Library/Application Support/com.splice.Splice

  5. Press Cmd + Shift + . (Command, Shift, and the period key) to reveal hidden files and folders.

  6. Locate the .certs folder. It will appear slightly faded because it is normally hidden.

  7. Select the .certs folder and press Cmd + Delete.

  8. Only delete the .certs folder. Leave all other files and folders in this location unchanged.

  9. Reopen the Splice Desktop App and sign in.

  10. Open your DAW and load your plugin again.

Windows

  1. Fully quit the Splice Desktop App and your DAW.

  2. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.

  3. Paste the following command and press Enter: explorer /select,"%LOCALAPPDATA%\SpliceSettings\.certs"

  4. A File Explorer window will open with the .certs folder highlighted.

  5. Press Delete to remove the folder.

  6. Reopen the Splice Desktop App and sign in.

  7. Open your DAW and load your plugin again.

What happens next?

When the Splice Desktop App relaunches, it should automatically recreate the .certs folder.

Return to Apps & Plugins and check whether your software now appears.
