Downloading Serum presets

When you download a Serum preset on the website, it'll show up in the Presets section of the Splice desktop app. However, please note that presets can't be dragged out of the Splice app the same way samples can. They can only be loaded up via your synth's preset browser.

To get to the location of a specific preset file on your computer, click the overflow menu in the Splice app (the three dots to the far right of the preset) and click 'Open Enclosing Folder':

If your Serum presets folder is in its default location, Splice will automatically create a new folder called "Splice" within your Serum presets directory when you download your first Serum preset. This is an important distinction: it means that Serum presets will not download to your main Splice folder, like samples and presets for other synths do.

Depending on whether you're on Mac or PC, that folder will be created in one of these locations:

Mac: Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Presets/Xfer Records/Serum Presets/Presets/Splice

Win: ~/Documents/Xfer/Serum Presets/Presets/Splice

If you've moved that "Serum Presets" folder to elsewhere on your computer, or to an external drive, your Serum presets will download to your main Splice folder instead. That folder will be here by default:

Mac: Macintosh HD/Users/[your username]/Splice/presets/Serum

Win: ~/Documents/Splice/presets/Serum

If you're unsure of which folder your Serum presets have downloaded to, you can use the "open enclosing folder" method above in the Splice app, to jump directly to the location of a specific preset on your computer.

Adding your downloaded presets to Serum

If your presets from Splice have downloaded to Serum's presets directory (which they will if you haven't moved any folders from their expected locations), then you don't need to do anything to add those presets to Serum. They'll automatically be in Serum's preset browser (under "Splice"), and available to use. Please note that you might need to restart your DAW before you see new presets you just downloaded.

If your Serum presets downloaded to your regular Splice folder, you'll need to move/copy them to Serum's presets directory. You can add them to the "user" folder there, make a new "Splice" folder, or make a different folder. Again, the filepath to the Serum Presets folder is:

Mac: Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Presets/Xfer Records/Serum Presets/Presets

Win: ~/Documents/Xfer/Serum Presets/Presets/
