Q: How do I sign up for the Splice plan offered through my college/university?
A: If you're enrolled in a course that includes a free Splice plan, you will receive a sign-up link from your instructor. Simply click the link and create your Splice account-- you'll then be prompted to verify your email address.
Once you've verified your account via the emailed link, click "redeem promo code," and complete the checkout process for your free plan. Once that's done, your subscription will start right away, and you'll have full access to your plan for the duration of the free period.
Q: What happens when my free subscription ends?
A: One month before the end of your free plan, you'll receive an email from Splice with instructions on how to switch over to our Splice for Students plan. This is a discounted version of our Sounds+ monthly plan, which is $8.99 for college students. You will need to add a valid payment method in order to switch over to a paid subscription. You also have the option of switching to a higher-tier Creator or Creator+ plan (we do not currently offer student discounts for these plans).
If you do not wish to switch over to a paid subscription when your free plan ends, your free plan will be cancelled. You will no longer be able to spend credits after your plan is cancelled, and you'll lose any remaining credits that are still on your account. However, you can still use and re-download any samples/presets that were purchased during your subscription.
Q: Do I need to add a credit/debit card to start my free subscription?
A: No, we do not require payment information in order to start a free subscription. However, you will need to add a credit/debit card, or Paypal account, if you wish to continue on with a normal subscription after your free plan ends.
Q: What if I already have a Splice subscription? How do I switch over to the free plan?
A: You'll need to cancel your current plan before you can switch over to the free plan offered by your college/university. You can cancel your current plan here: splice.com/profile/plans
Once you've scheduled a cancellation, you'll remain on your current plan until the end of the billing period, at which point the plan will fully cancel, and then you can use the link provided by your course instructor to switch over to the free plan.
