How to set the content location for Splice INSTRUMENT

Updated over a week ago

Often times you'll want to store the sample content in a different location than the default, this guide will show you how to change that content path within the plugin.

First navigate to "Preferences" by clicking the account logo in the top right.

Then under "Content", select the path where you'd like your content to be installed.

Moving Existing Content

If you have any content installed when setting your content location, you will be prompted to move this content to the new location.

Once you click "Move", the process will begin and you will see a progress bar.

Once the process finishes, you'll see the "Complete" window. After this please restart your DAW or reload all instances of the Splice INSTRUMENT plugin, as otherwise you will not get any sound playing back from the plugin.

Errors when Moving

The following error may appear when moving your content.

This will happen if your new location does not have enough free space to hold the content. This can occur even if you're moving content within the same drive, as in order to ensure safety when moving the plugin will first copy the content to the new location, then delete from the old location once everything is transferred without errors. Please be sure that you have enough space available on the drive that you're moving your content to in order to avoid this issue.

Choosing a Folder

We recommend that you choose a top level folder, as the content inside will all be contained within their own individual folders. For example, if you choose a more generic folder called "Samples" that contains other content, then inside you'll see something like this:

However if you create a folder called "Splice INSTRUMENT" for your content, then it will be nicely organized like this:
