How to download samples and presets in the Splice Sounds plugin — now in Beta

Licensing a Sample or Preset

Once you find a sound you like, click the + icon to the right of the sound to license it. This will spend a credit to license.

After licensing, the + icon will change to a check mark, indicating that the sound has downloaded to your local machine.

Importing a Sample into Your Project

You can add licensed samples to your project in several ways:

  • Drag and Drop: Click and hold the sample, then drag it directly into your project.

  • Copy to Clipboard: Click the three-dot menu next to the sample and select Copy to clipboard. You can then paste it into your project.

  • Show Enclosing Folder: Click the three-dot menu and select Show enclosing folder to open the sample’s .WAV file on your computer. From there, you can drag it into your DAW or open it in another program.

Please note, by default, Sounds will be modified to your transpose and timestretch settings when dragging from a list. You can turn this setting on or off by going into the Settings section of the plugin and toggling the feature.

For presets, after licensing it, it will come up in your Splice presets folder in the associated plugin.

Is My Content Shared with the Splice Desktop App?

Yes. As of v0.7.0, downloaded content is shared between the Splice Sounds plugin and the Splice Desktop App. The first time you launch the plugin after updating, you'll see a one-time migration that consolidates your existing libraries so samples and presets are no longer duplicated across the two apps.

If you have feedback on the migration or shared library experience, please share it here.

How can I generate a certified license for the samples I download in the Splice Sounds plugin?

You can generate a certified license for any sample you download from Splice, either on the Splice website or in the Splice Desktop App. Please see our guide here: How do I generate a certified license for my samples?
