How to download samples in the Splice Sounds plugin — now in Beta

Updated this week

Licensing a Sample

Once you find a sample you like, click the + icon to the right of the sample to license it. This will spend a credit to license.

After licensing, the + icon will change to a check mark, indicating that the sample has downloaded to your local machine.

Importing a Sample into Your Project

You can add licensed samples to your project in several ways:

  • Drag and Drop: Click and hold the sample, then drag it directly into your project.

  • Copy to Clipboard: Click the three-dot menu next to the sample and select Copy to clipboard. You can then paste it into your project.

  • Show Enclosing Folder: Click the three-dot menu and select Show enclosing folder to open the sample’s .WAV file on your computer. From there, you can drag it into your DAW or open it in another program.

How can I generate a certified license for the samples I download in the Splice Sounds plugin?

You can generate a certified license for any sample you download from Splice, either on the Splice website or in the Splice Desktop App. Please see our guide here: How do I generate a certified license for my samples?

Where Do Samples Download on My Device?

Samples downloaded through the Splice Sounds plugin are stored in the following default locations:

  • Mac: /Users/<username>/Library/Splice/Plug-in/samples

  • Windows: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Splice\Plug-in\samples

Please note, at this time, the download location for the Splice Sounds plugin cannot be customized.

Why Doesn’t the Plugin Sync to My Splice Desktop App Folder?

The Splice Sounds plugin uses its own download path, which may result in duplicate samples: one in the plugin folder and one in the folder set by the Splice Desktop App.

We understand this can be frustrating and welcome your feedback here.
