How to uninstall INSTRUMENT on Mac and Windows

Before getting started, close your DAW and quit the Splice INSTRUMENT standalone app. If either is running, some files may be locked and cannot be deleted.

1. Uninstall Splice INSTRUMENT

Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps and search for Splice or INSTRUMENT.

2. Delete any remaining plugin files

Delete: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\com.splice.INSTRUMENT

Replace USERNAME with your Windows username.

Deleting this folder removes your preferences and log files. You will be signed out, and Splice INSTRUMENT will return to its first-launch state.

Tip: If you cannot see the AppData folder, open File Explorer and select View > Show > Hidden items. You can also enter %APPDATA% in the File Explorer address bar to open the Roaming folder directly.

1. Delete the plugin files

These are system folders, so macOS may ask for your password when deleting files.

2. Delete the standalone app

Open your Applications folder and delete Splice INSTRUMENT.

3. Delete the settings folder

Delete: ~/Library/Application Support/com.splice.INSTRUMENT

Deleting this folder removes your preferences. You will be signed out, and Splice INSTRUMENT will return to its first-launch state.

4. Delete the logs folder

Delete: ~/Library/Logs/com.splice.INSTRUMENT

Tip: In Finder, press Cmd + Shift + G, paste one of the paths above, and press Return to open that location directly.

The Splice INSTRUMENT installer lets you choose custom locations for some app and plugin files. If you selected a custom location during installation, those files may not appear in the default locations listed above.

We recommend keeping the VST3 plugin in its default system location.

The steps above intentionally do not remove your downloaded presets and packs, so you can keep them if you plan to reinstall Splice INSTRUMENT.

By default, downloaded content is stored in a Splice/INSTRUMENT folder in your user directory.

If you selected a custom content location, you can confirm it in Splice INSTRUMENT under Account > Preferences > Content.

Only delete your content folder if you also want to reclaim the disk space it uses.

Important: If your subscription has lapsed or been canceled, premium content may not be available to download again after you delete it. Free content and Free Drops you have claimed can be redownloaded at any time.
