You can export your Create project as an Ableton Live Set, then open the set in Live to keep working with your tracks, clips, MIDI, automation, and plugins.
Before you start
Paid plan: Exporting requires a paid Splice plan. On other plans, the export option opens an upgrade dialog.
Ableton Live version: Exported sets open in Ableton Live 12.0 or later. If your project uses Create's new Auto Filter, you'll need Live 12.2 or later.
Export your project to Ableton Live
Choose File → Export Project for Ableton Live. You can also open the Export dialog with File → Export Audio and select the Project tile.
Enter a name for the Live Set.
Under Effects, choose how Create's built-in effects should come across (see the next section).
Click Export.
When the export finishes, a summary lists which effects were converted, which tracks were rendered to audio, anything that may sound different in Live, and anything that was left out. The same report is saved next to the set as Create Export Notes.txt.
Create saves the set as [name] Project/[name].als, with all of the project's audio in a Samples folder inside the project folder.
Open the set in Ableton Live
Open the [name] Project folder and double-click [name].als, or choose File → Open Live Set in Ableton Live and select the .als file.
Tip: Keep the .als file and the Samples folder together. If you move the set, move the whole [name] Project folder so Live can find your audio.
Choose how effects are exported
The Effects setting controls what happens to Create's own effects and instruments:
Render (default): Tracks that use a Create effect or instrument, Astra, or a CLAP plugin are rendered to audio. The original track is kept next to the rendered audio, turned off, so the set sounds identical to your Create project.
Convert: Create's EQ, compressor, reverb, delay, auto filter, chorus, phaser, flanger, gate, limiter, distortion, and tape effects become Ableton Live's closest devices, with their settings and automation. Converted effects stay editable but sound close rather than identical. A Create Chain becomes a Live Audio Effect Rack with the same effects and macros.
Note: Tracks that use a Create instrument are always rendered to audio, even when Convert is selected.
What transfers to Ableton Live
The exported Live Set includes:
Tracks, groups, return tracks, and sends
Audio clips with their warp markers
MIDI clips, including note chances
Automation
Sections, which become locators in Live
Tempo and time signature
VST3 and AU plugins with their settings
Drum Racks, which become Live Drum Racks. Each pad with a sound becomes a Simpler with its sample window, choke group, sends, and effects. Empty pads are left out.
What doesn't transfer
Unlicensed samples are left out of the set. License your samples in Create before exporting if you want them included.
Create instruments, Astra, and CLAP plugins come across as rendered audio rather than playable instruments.
Converted effects sound close to the originals, but not identical. Choose Render if the set needs to sound exactly like your Create project.
Check Create Export Notes.txt next to the set for a full list of what changed in your project.
Export to Ableton Live with Rheo
You can ask Rheo to "export the project to Ableton" or "send this to Ableton". Rheo tells you the set's name, its folder, and what will come across, then asks you to confirm with Export, or to click Open Export dialog to adjust the settings yourself.
Once the set is written, Rheo shows where the set was saved, with a Show in Finder button, and lists anything that came across differently.
