Why aren't my presets showing up in Serum?

This article explains how to fix Serum presets downloaded from the Splice desktop app that don’t appear in Serum. It’s for Splice users who download Serum presets and can’t find them in the Serum preset browser.

This applies to Serum 1 and Serum 2 presets downloaded through the Splice desktop app on Windows and Mac.

Presets that don’t appear in Serum have usually been saved to your Splice folder instead of the Xfer Serum presets folder.

Make sure you're on the latest version of the Splice desktop app: splice.com/download

Move presets you’ve already downloaded

  1. Find the presets in your Splice folder. See Where is my Splice folder?

  2. Drag the presets into the Xfer presets folder for the version of Serum you use. The default locations are:

    Serum 2 presets

    • Windows: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Documents\Xfer\Serum 2 Presets\Presets\User

    • Mac: Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Presets/Xfer Records/Serum 2 Presets/Presets/Splice

    Serum 1 presets:

    • Windows: C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Xfer\Serum Presets\

    • Mac: Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Presets/Xfer Records/Serum Presets/Presets/Splice

The presets now appear in Serum’s preset browser.

Troubleshooting / Limitations

  • Serum 2 presets cannot be loaded in Serum 1. If you use both versions, make sure each preset goes into the folder for the version it was made for. For more about compatibility of presets between Serum 1 and Serum 2, see Can I use my Serum 1 presets in Serum 2?
