How to use Variations in the Splice Sounds plugin — now in Beta

After licensing a sample, you can use the Splice Sounds plugin to create unique Variations directly within your workflow.

1. Open the Sample Tool

After finding a sample you'd like to adjust:

  1. Click on the sparkle icon to load the sample.

  2. If you haven’t already licensed the sample, click Download.

  3. Once the sample is licensed, you’ll be able to create Variations or search for Complementary and Similar Sounds.

The plugin will automatically create five unique variations of the sample.

Note: Each Variation requires a credit to license before it can be used in your projects.

2. Customize Your Variations

By default, Variations will match the key and tempo selected in the plugin and your DAW session. For more control over the results, you can:

  • Adjust the complexity of the harmony and rhythm.

  • Use Target Key to define a specific set of pitches for the Variation.

  • Adjust pitch probabilities to give more weight to specific notes and keys.

These controls allow you to tailor each Variation to better fit your project.

Please note that the Blend and Fit features are coming soon. We can’t wait for you to try them!

3. Preview and Use Your Variations

Once your Variations have been generated, you can:

  • Preview each Variation directly in the plugin.

  • Drag and drop a Variation into your DAW.

  • Click the three dots next to a Variation and select Go to folder to locate the file on your computer.

Each Variation costs one credit to license. That credit is counted as payment to the creator of the original sample.

5. Find Your Variations in the Created Tab

All Variations you generate are saved in the Created tab, which you can access from the Library section of the plugin.

The Created tab displays the BPM and key of each Variation, making it easier to find the right one for your project. You can also filter and sort your Variations across multiple sessions.
