Variations is a new feature in version 1.2.0 of the Splice Ableton Live integration, available now in the Ableton Live 12.4.5 beta. To join Ableton Live's beta program, click here.
1. Access the Variations Tool
In the Splice Ableton Live integration, find the sample you'd like to use.
Hover over the sample within the integration.
A blue sparkle icon will appear.
Click the icon and choose Create Variations.
The integration will create five unique variations of the sample.
Note: If you are on a Sounds+ or legacy Sounds plan, each variation will require a credit to license before it can be used in your projects. For users on the Splice x Ableton Live, Creator, or Creator+ plan, your Variations downloads are unmetered.
2. Customize Your Variations
For more control over the output, you can:
Adjust the complexity of the harmony and rhythm.
Use Target key to define a specific set of pitches for your variation.
These options allow you to tailor the results to match your project.
3. Preview, Use, and Rate Your Variations
Once your variations are generated:
Additionally, you can give each variation a thumbs up or down, which gives us signal on how we can improve this tooling.
4. Find Your Variations in the Created Tab
All Variations you generate are saved to the Created tab, accessible from the Library section of the integration.
The Created tab displays the BPM and key for each Variation, so you can quickly identify the right one for your project.
You can filter and sort Variations to navigate across multiple sessions.
