How to fix the most common Rent-to-Own software issues

Fixes for the most common Rent-to-Own software problems, including license errors and plugins that won’t open after installing.

Having trouble with your Rent-to-Own software? This guide covers common issues with installing, activating, and using Rent-to-Own products through Splice, along with links to more detailed troubleshooting instructions.

Why isn't my Rent-to-Own software recognizing my license?

If your Rent-to-Own software is displaying a licensing error or limiting functionality, you may be experiencing an issue with license verification.

First, confirm that your Rent-to-Own subscription is active and your payments are up to date on your Splice plans page.

If your subscription is active, try refreshing your license connection:

  1. Completely quit the Splice desktop app.

  2. Close your DAW.

  3. Reopen Splice and log in to the account associated with your active Rent-to-Own plan.

  4. Open your DAW and launch your Rent-to-Own software.

If the issue continues, sign out of the Splice desktop app and sign back in. You can also try reinstalling your software from the Apps & Plugins section of Splice.

How do I install or reinstall my Rent-to-Own software?

You can install or reinstall your Rent-to-Own software directly through the Splice desktop app.

  1. Open the Splice desktop app and log in.

  2. Navigate to Apps & Plugins in the sidebar.

  3. Find your Rent-to-Own software and select Install or Reinstall.

  4. Follow the installation prompts to complete the process.

Once installation is complete, restart your DAW or rescan for plugins if the software doesn't appear.

How do I activate my lifetime license after paying off my Rent-to-Own plan?

Once you've completed all your Rent-to-Own payments, you can activate your lifetime license and continue using your software without an active Rent-to-Own subscription.

Depending on the software, you may need to enter a serial number or complete an authorization process through the manufacturer.

To get started:

  1. Find the software you've finished paying off.

  2. If a lifetime serial number is available, copy it and follow the manufacturer's activation instructions.

Note: Not all Rent-to-Own products use serial numbers. Some require activation through the manufacturer's website or licensing application.

For product-specific instructions, see How do I activate my Rent-to-Own lifetime license?.

How do I cancel or resume my Rent-to-Own plan?

You can cancel a Rent-to-Own plan at any time without losing your progress toward ownership.

To cancel your subscription:

  1. Go to your Splice plans page.

  2. Find the Rent-to-Own subscription you want to cancel.

  3. Select Cancel and follow the prompts.

If you decide to subscribe again later, your previous payments will still count toward owning the software.
