Step 1 – Start Your Lease & Set Up Accounts
Start your Rent-to-Own lease for your Spitfire Audio plugin.
If you created a new Spitfire Audio account, see our guide here to set up your account.
Step 2 – Install the Splice Desktop App
Open the app and log in using the account linked to your Spitfire Audio lease.
Step 3 – Install Your Plugin from Splice
In the Splice app, go to Apps & Plugins.
Find your Spitfire Audio plugin.
If you see Reinstall instead of Install, click it anyway and complete the steps.
Follow the on-screen prompts to install.
Step 4 – Install from the Spitfire Audio App
Once the Splice installation finishes, open your Applications folder.
Launch the Spitfire Audio app and log in with the account linked to your lease.
Locate your plugin and click Install.
Step 5 – Open in Your DAW
Open your DAW.
Rescan your plugins.
Launch your Spitfire Audio plugin and start creating!
Troubleshooting & Notes
Mac Users – “Download Failed” Error
If you see this error, you may need to grant Full Disk Access to both Spitfire Audio and Splice.
To enable Full Disk Access:
Click the Apple icon → System Settings.
Go to Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access.
Turn on access for Spitfire Audio and Splice.
Enter your Mac administrator password when prompted.
Retry the installation in the Spitfire Audio app.
Large Libraries
Spitfire Audio libraries are often very large. Check that you have enough free disk space before installing.
Installing to an External Drive
Use a fast, reliable drive (USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt SSD).
Keep the drive connected when using the plugin. Learn more here.
Download Times
Some libraries can take several hours to download.
For best results, avoid running multiple applications during installation.
