Note: This article covers Serum 1 only. If you're using Serum 2, see How do I fix Serum 2 license and authorization errors?
First, check your Serum 1 plan status
First, please confirm if you are still renting Serum 1 or if you have paid it off here: https://splice.com/plugins/plans/serum
Please scroll down and follow the instructions depending on your lease status:
I have paid off Serum (Owned)
Once Serum 1 is paid off, it uses a serial number instead of a Splice lease. You no longer need the Splice app running or an internet connection to use Serum 1.
Find your serial number on your Serum 1 plan page.
If the Splice desktop app shows a Serum 1 update, install it and restart your computer.
Open Serum 1 in your DAW. Serum 1 prompts you for a serial number.
Enter your serial number.
To manage your Serum 1 license or download updates directly from Xfer Records, see How to access your Xfer Records account for Serum Rent-to-Own.
I am still renting Serum (Active)
While you're renting, Serum 1 checks your license through the Splice desktop app. Refreshing that connection usually clears the error:
Quit the Splice desktop app.
Quit your DAW.
Open the Splice desktop app and log in to the account with the active Serum 1 plan.
Open your DAW and load Serum 1.
Serum 1 opens without the "Splice Lease not found!" error.
If the error continues
Quit your DAW.
In the Splice desktop app, go to Apps & Plugins and reinstall Serum 1.
Download the latest Splice desktop app and reinstall it.
Log out of the Splice desktop app and log back in. Logging back in generates a fresh Serum 1 license.
Open your DAW and load Serum 1.
