All Splice customers who are currently renting or have previously completed a Serum 1 Rent-to-Own plan are eligible to upgrade to Serum 2 for free.
The upgrade process depends on whether you're still renting Serum 1 or have fully paid off your license.
First, check your Serum 1 Rent-to-Own status
Visit your Splice plans page to check the status of your Serum 1 Rent-to-Own plan. You'll see one of the following:
Owned: You've completed your Rent-to-Own payments. You can access Serum 2 through your Xfer Records account.
Active: You're still making Rent-to-Own payments. You can access Serum 2 through the Splice desktop app.
Follow the instructions for your plan status below.
I have paid off Serum 1 (Owned)
If you've completed your Serum 1 Rent-to-Own payments, you can download and activate Serum 2 for free through Xfer Records.
Log in to your Xfer Records account using the email address associated with your original Serum Rent-to-Own plan.
Navigate to your product downloads and download Serum 2.
Install Serum 2 and open it in your DAW.
When prompted, select OK to open the Xfer Records authorization page in your browser.
Log in to your Xfer Records account to authorize Serum 2.

Important: Your Xfer Records account was automatically created when you started your Serum 1 Rent-to-Own plan. Do not create a new account. If you need help accessing your existing account, see How to access your Xfer Records account for Serum Rent-to-Own.
I'm still renting Serum 1 (Active)
If your Serum 1 Rent-to-Own plan is active, you can download and install Serum 2 directly through the Splice desktop app.
Open the Splice desktop app and log in to your account.
Navigate to the Apps & Plugins section.
Locate Serum 2 and select Install.
Once installation is complete, open Serum 2 in your DAW.
You can continue using both Serum 1 and Serum 2 while your Rent-to-Own plan is active.
Note: Make sure you're using the latest version of the Splice desktop app to access Serum 2.
